Paint, Paint, and More Paint

I think I have gone to Home Depot almost everyday in the past week for paint and then, oh yeah, more paint!  I previously had a hand in each room of the house, trying to decorate and organize each one in bits at a time, until I realized I was actually getting NOTHING done, just creating more and more half-finished projects.  SO... I have turned all my focus to working on just the kitchen and moving on from there.  Thankfully, any work to be done at our house is just cosmetic, no major renovations.

Rollers and paint brushes in hand, I have been painting feverishly in the kitchen. Cabinets...Done! Ceiling...Done!  Walls...Not Done!!  Planning to tackle the walls this week and then I will happily be done painting for a bit.  It's the cabinets that almost threw me over the edge.  I love how they look now, but it was tons of work!  You can check them out in progress HERE.  In my dream scenario, the next project in the kitchen would be a new counter top and sink, but budget wise, we need to wait on that.  So, I'll be stuck with the black/white/gray granite tile counter top for now.  Really, it could be a much worse counter, so I shouldn't complain...it's just not "me" and I don't like that it's tile...a pain to clean.

Once I get the walls all painted pretty, then I can do some floofing {stole that excellent word from a fellow blogger} and fluffing with accessories!  I'm waiting until it's all done to post pictures...I don't think you should be subjected to the way it looks now.  I'm wishin' and a hopin' I will be able to reveal it all by the end of the week!  Until then I will leave you with some swoon worthy other people's kitchens...

love that first picture! I can't believe you painted your own cabinets...I am a designer and I am scared to paint mine. Any helpful tips? I LOVE white cabinets! Maybe I will muster up some courage and paint mine...

The paint finish on your lower cabinets is perfect. Are you rolling them or spraying?

Thanks!

Yes, all definately "swoon" worthy, can waite to see urs. Cabinets are usually the biggest thing to tackle in the kitchen. Painting them seems to take for-ev-errrrrrrrr! Whats funny is , quite a few years ago , we painted our old cabinets white. I really wanted a fresh , clean, kitchen, and when we moved into the house, the cabinets were good, solid wood so we opted to paint instead of replace them. Anyway, here we are about 15 yrs or so after the painting not quite in the same shape. From constance cleaning and use some of the paint is starting to wear in places and look distressed. Which i now, in the midst of lovin me some shabby chic, think is wonderful. Im thinking of busting out the sander and helping it along some. I still plan on doin a few things in the kitchen, like some new appliances, and backsplash. Having quite been able to fit those white carerra marble countertops into the budget yet.......but someday, right? A girl can dream! Look forward to seeing ur new kitchen, im always huntin for kitchen inspiration. Stop on over if ya get a chance.................Bonnie

Wish I had some of your energy. I need to do some painting as well. I have no one to move things from the walls, so I will have to hire it done. You are doing a nice job.
