Vintage Feed Sack Pillows and a Giveaway

Hello, and Happy Sunday To You!

Well, I'm still on my sewing kick and have made some pillows out of vintage sugar sacks...

I've embellished them too with some button, ribbon, and fabric flowers.  I've loved making these, and they were pretty easy since they were already sewed on 3 sides!  The sacks came from the flea market and Etsy.

I also made this vintage trailer applique pillow.  Anyone out there love vintage trailers, have one, or want one?  My husband and I want to get one and park in the backyard as an extra "room" of sorts.  Not sure if my neighbors or even the township will allow that, but maybe someday...

Decorating the house has been on hiatus (which is probably why I am being so crafty instead) since our basement had some water damage to the carpet...we had to tear it all out, and are planning to put tile in there soon.  In the meantime, Maggie's play area (formerly in the basement) has moved upstairs and my living room looks like Gymboree now...not so inspiring for getting the rest of that room together!  I have been working on organizing and decorating our office/craft room, so hopefully I will be able to share that with you sometime soon, as well as the living room.

In other news, the wonderful team at Flea Market Style Magazine has graciously offered me a copy of their Fall 2011 issue to giveaway to one of you!  Stay tuned...I'll be posting the giveaway this week!

{aren't those vintage suitcase sheves to die for?}

Lastly, I hope that if you are an East Coaster, Hurricane Irene
has passed you by safe and sound.

I really love your spin on the vintage grain sacks.
The pop of color with the buttons and ribbons make them fun and perfect for a cute seating area.

The pillows are very cute. I would love to get a trailer and decorate it, but I would probably get obsessed about it and want to live in it then!

Those sacks are to die for. I might need to get some sewing tips so I can make myself some. I always take the easy road and buy pillows.

Oh, my! I will be back to visit you again. I love both of your pillow ideas. I have two pieces of fabric that were either feed and flour shacks or are reproductions. I'm not sure which. My daughter is hinting for them big time, and I will probably give it, but I truly hate to part with them.

Yes, I would love to have a little vintage trailer! It isn't in the budget, but I'm still wishing.

What sweet pillows! I enjoy saving the colorful fabric sacks that Masa and Flour come in from the Foreign Markets in our area, so colorful and often with either beautiful Floral Ticking or with interesting Graphics.

You have made god use of those sugar sacks. Guess I forgot about sugar. All we ever had was feed or flour sacks.

Awesome pillows! I love that idea! I, too, would love a caravan in my backyard - to use as a get-away, or a garden shed, or whatever! Have you seen Happy's caravan at www.happylovesrosie.blogspot.com ?
