My Maggie's Vintage Bedroom

 For the past month or so, I have been working on my daughter, Maggie's bedroom.  We moved her from the larger bedroom she was in, to the smallest (formerly the office/craft/sewing room) of the three bedrooms we have.  Her old room is going to become a guest room/office.  Although her new room is quite tiny, it has turned out to be a happy little space for a happy little 20 month old girl...

I wanted the room to have bright colors with a vintage feel, I found some inspiration {HERE}.  One wall is painted in a rosy red and the other, an aqua blue.  The rest of the walls and woodwork are painted white.  I made the bunting from vintage hankies and also hemmed and added red rick rack trim to the aqua curtains (from Target, they used to be floor length in her old room).

I switched out the plain ceiling light originally there for a vintage schoolhouse style shade with floral detail purchased on Etsy.  The shade was fitted to a simple white fixture from Home Depot.  The entire light was about $30 altogether...woo hoo!

Since this room is so small, it's difficult to fit the whole she-bang in a photo, sorry about that...time for mama to get a wide angle lens... ;)  This room is also over the staircase, so there are built out areas in two corners of the room (the dresser is between the build outs) which make it very challenging to place furniture.  However, these two build outs will eventually stack a twin box spring and mattress on top, so furniture placement will be easier once Maggie is in a big girl bed one day.  I am under no delusions though that she will be begging for the bigger (guest) room sooner than later!

This is the "art" that is over the dresser, I put it together using a window pane frame with vintage storybook pages in it...

I was apprehensive about hanging anything near the crib, for fear it would be torn down by Maggie, but I found these cute vintage-y circus wall decals at Micheal's 50% off and figured it was a pretty safe bet they would not come down.  I am taking my chances with the vintage flashcard though...

Since there isn't much floorspace for storage, etc., I had to make the most of the wall space...

 {I love the vintage horse rosette ribbon I got at the flea market this past fall, it's the perfect shade of girly pink!}

The books are "hung" on the wall via floating bookshelves from {HERE}.  A print from Katie Daisy is also on the wall there...I love, love her work!  On the other side of the room is a print from Sara Jane, another favorite artist.  The little jacket is made from vintage chenille fabric and was bought at the Country Living Fair 2011.  It's a size 2T, so this spring and summer it will be the perfect fit on Maggie and I can't wait to see her in it!

The slip covered chair is from Ikea and was in Maggie's old room as well.  My friend made the adorable baby quilt.

Vintage reproduction wire baskets hold more books and furry friends...

This is what the room looked like before (at the start of this project), emptied of all my craft and our office stuff...ugh, that was a HUGE job moving that out.  Incidentally, my crafty supplies now reside {HERE}.

....AND, here is the little lady that rests her head here now...

XO,
Stacey

And that is one beautiful little gal, too. I miss when my niece and nephew were that age. They do grow up so fast.
