Easter and Sarah Richardson

Hello!

I hope you enjoyed your Easter festivities {if you celebrate, that is}!

It's been busy around the {Sort Of Fairytale} house lately.  My mom has been visiting from out of town and I had family over for Easter Sunday.  We've all been having a great time with my mom here and Easter was fun, although I always get so stressed about hosting holidays, even though I know I shouldn't.  Sadly, I don't have any cute Easter decor to share with you!  I really wanted to make this centerpiece...

{via Pinterest}

...but, I couldn't seem to find the energy time to do so.  I don't know why, because it looks pretty darn easy.  I also wanted to try this...

...again, Epic Fail.

Perhaps I could have done either of the above it I hadn't been watching so much Sarah's House on HGTV.com!

{Sarah Richardson}

I'm sure most of you decor fanatics out there have seen designer, Sarah Richardson's show and all of it's seasons, but I managed to only see one season of it somehow, and now I am hooked on watching all of the seasons!  Currently, I'm watching season 3, in which she buys and renovates a farmhouse...

Swoon-O-Rama!
Loving everything she is doing in this farmhouse...her budget is $600,000 for the whole house...must be nice to be Sarah!  Seriously though, I think she is a design genius and my new decor hero.  Do you think we can get Sarah to leave her house(s) and come to Stacey's house???

Speaking of my house...
I have rearranged my living room for the millionth time and am in the midst of making a painted, vintage inspired wood sign to go on the wall in there.  Hope to share more of both this week!

XO,
Stacey

P.S.  Yes, I am going to watch more Sarah's House now...

P.P.S.  Does anyone remember the show on HGTV a few years back called Country at Home?  Designer, Mary Emmerling was a part (or creator) of it, but it was hosted by another woman.  Anyway...I miss that show.   Why are there no cottage/vintage style decor shows on HGTV?!

Goodness, I love that centerpiece!! I remember seeing it around, but I'm glad you posted it so I can pin it now!!

That is a really pretty centerpiece, Stacey. There's always next year. It is stressful to host holidays and to be realistic about what we can accomplish. We see so many beautiful things out there and we want to do it all! I love, love, love the farmhouse that Sarah renovated ~ all the gorgeous colors and unique items that she put together are just beautiful. I do remember the show Country at Home ~ it was a really good one. HGTV is just not the same anymore, I rarely watch it. (You didn't want to try my famous melting of sprinkles egg dye trick?) : )

I LOVE the farmhouse Sarah designed, it was my favorite thing she's done so far. I use to watch HGTV all the time and now I only watch a few shows Saturday. I agree they need more vintage decor shows.

Oh, I'm a big Sarah fan too. She can do no wrong. That farmhouse is my favorite project of hers...the kitchen, the mudroom! To.die.for! :)

Your post title caught my attention because Sarah is only my ALL TIME FAVORITE designer!! What's not to love about the homes she remodels?! She also hosted a small space decorating show a few years back that was almost as good as her newest show. HGTV must be on a tight budget, so that's whay all they air in the evenings is real estate TV. Who cares?!!!

I love her! Have you seen the house on the island yet? Seriously. That one is my favorite. Do you remember Kitty Bartholomew? Back in college I used to watch her and dream about my house one day!

Hi~~ I couldn't agree with you more about HGTV. What happened to the good shows??? I barely watch it anymore because I am frankly not interested. They need to get back the oldies but goodies:))

That was a great show, Country at Home. My daughter and I wanted Sarah's Farmhouse to be the HGTV dream house. It was our favorite of Sarah's. There isn't a Country/Vintage show on HGTV...maybe they are waiting just for you!!!! That's it! Glad you had a great Easter. Smiles...Renee

Oh my goodness, that show looks like it must be great! I don't have cable or satellite or anything like that though, so no HGTV for me. I wish I had a $600,000 budget to makeover my house :)

I remember that show! I agree, HGTV is so uninspiring as far as decorating goes for us vintage/cottage/country decor loving folks! I still miss Home Companion magazine, too.

I loved Sarah's home renovation on her country house! That kitchen is still one of my favorites.

hey bobbsy!

no such thing as an epic fail when you're the busy mom of a toddler, 'kay?

how's this for epic fail: i have never watched that show but i will have to seek it out! i don't remember the mary e. show but was a fan of the sometimes-goofy always-fun decorating cents with joan steffend (who is somehow now my friend on facebook after i wrote her a fan letter)!

I had recorded every one of her episodes on our DVR.....until my husband started to go crazy, because we didn't have space to record anything new. I was so happy to discover I could watch her show online. I love Sarah!! We're trying to do something similar with our 1900 Victorian...but I don't have her $600K budget!

Last summer, Sarah, had a short series in which she redecorated the family vacation home situated on an island. It was great! I agree with your HGTV assessment and I miss Country at Home and the one that Kitty Bartholomew (?) hosted, not sure of the name of that one. How many times do we need to see House Hunters?
