Well, it only took me a year and a half, but I did it...our "Master Bedroom" is finally decorated!
It's not a room that really took a year and a half to decorate, rather it just took me about that long to get around to doing to it. I started all the other rooms first. Note to self and others: do not decorate YOUR room last! It should be a relaxing escape to end of the day, and therefore should be much higher up on the list to do!!
I painted the walls white, "Popcorn" by Martha Stewart, they were a taupe-y color before, when we moved in. I just wanted clean and fresh white, since I knew there would be an abundance of color elsewhere in the furnishings and accessories.
{got two tole lamps at the flea..one for each bedside table!}
{my dresser is from Urban Farmgirl}
Just about all the items in the room came from either flea markets, thrift stores, antique shops, or a discount store of some sort. My biggest (literally) score? The head board of course! It was a generous gift from my friend Kris at Junk Chic Cottage. She wasn't using the door, so she gave it to me after her handy husband added crown moulding to the top and a cool thingy (yes that's the technical term) on the back for hanging on the wall. It took me FOREVER to decide what color to paint it! Nothing seemed "just right". In the end it got painted in a yellowish-cream. I'm happy with the color for now, but it may get painted again someday...
I also painted my husband's dresser in red. I contemplated painting it in pink for a moment just to torment him ;) I'm lucky he's so cool with my style...I mean, it's not very masculine and all. Besides, if I let him decorate it, there would be Chicago White Sox pennants on the walls...um, no thank you.
I wanted a way to display some of my fave vintage clothing, so I made this "rack" by hanging a dowel rod atop two hooks and voila!
In the great words of Porky Pig, "That's All Folks"!
XO,
Stacey
P.S. What do you think of the head board color? What would you have done???

This is so delightful...fresh and fun. I agree though -- doing this room first would have been such a wonderful escape every night after working hard in the other rooms.
Wonderful!
Oh I love it Stacey... :) The headboard is such a Sweet gift. I would of painted it PINK.. But that's because I LOVE PINK :) I think it looks Pretty but I also think a distressed RED would look LOVELY!!!!
You need to email me your address because looking at your room has reminded me that I have something for you... :) I found it when we were moving ( well not me, my husband found it in the shed ) and I immediately thought of you.. :)
You created a VERY cozy place.
Blessings

So sweet and pretty! I think it was worth the wait!
Worth the year and a half wait! The headboard is fabulous (I need one for my guest room and this is perfect) and love your fun vintage touches. Displaying the clothing is so fun - love the dowel trick.

this room is adorable!!! love it! i pinned it. :)
Stacey the room looks so lovely.
I love the headboard. I knew it would have a great home to go too!!
The room is so sweet and pretty. Great job. Amazing the colors all together.
So happy and yet cozy, too. I love it! I personally love the soft yellow, but you could always paint a different color inside the panels (like red or blue) - and/or the crown molding. You are great at adding the right pops of color. This room flows so well with the rest of the home. Lovely photos, too, of course! The image in the mirror is very cool. :)
I love your room! The headboard is fab. I like that it is white. I also love the vintage clothes. So pretty.
Blessings,
Amy Jo

It is gorgeous. Understated and simple with just the right touches. I want to come and see each little detail. You know I am not sure if you painted the headboard if it wouldn't eat up the whole room. Maybe just sit on it a while. Smiles..Renee
Very pretty! I love the headboard colour with the other pops of red in the room.
SOOO LOVELY. Love the pretty patterns.
I love the vintage feel of it. That headboard is amazing. I like the subtleness of the color especially with the pops of color through out the room. We have been here five years and our bedroom and bath are the only rooms I haven't "done" yet. You are so right...that shouldn't be the case. Thanks for the inspiration.
LOVE it all, the colors are awesome...and so romantic as well
Love everything about the whole room. Do tell where the pillow fabric, and linens are from. Also the quilt is amazing, did you make it?
This is just gorgeous, Stacey! I love it and it so perfectly represents your style. I think I've done a little of something in every room of our house too... except for our bedroom. :-) I know you are enjoying such a fun and cheerful space.
I was saying "ahhhh" at the quilt. It's all so cute and comfy. When I saw the dowel on the hooks I said,"oh how cute". And thought..and easy too. I like the headboard's color..creamy yellow is so easy to match and soothing too.
Thanks for sharing your labor of love.
Your bedroom is so cottagey with so many wonderful vintage treasures! I think the color of your headboard is perfect.

Oh, I LOVE your bedroom, Stacey! It feels so inviting. I think your headboard looks so good the way it is, but a warm yellow would be pretty too...I'm saying that just because yellow is my favorite color ;) Your idea for displaying your vintage clothes is such a good one! It's so eye-catching and cute!
When can I move in? This is pure perfection!
You did a fantastic job. Another commenter said it just right, it's delightful, truly. Gorgeous. I love all of the colors. It has a well put together, homespun cottage look. What a great retreat.
So charming, Stacey. I love how you layered your bedding and your quilt is beautiful. I think your headboard looks gorgeous as it is ~ it still makes a statement without overpowering all of your pretty things! I adore your blue and white vintage dress ~ I have a wedding to attend next June and that dress would be perfect...hint, hint! : )
Fabulous room!!! My favorite is the way you've displayed your vintage clothing. I like the headboard as is. It's a nice break in pattern between your bedding and cute pictures above. Another room beautifully done!
Your bedroom is absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE it :) No advice on the headboard color - you seem to have everything under control :)
Smiles, DianeM
Great job, Stacey! I just love your style! ♥
oh stacey...i love it!! all your little details are priceless. i am going to show my daughter. she will love your headboard. so, so cute. thanks for sharing.
Love this!
You slay me every time with your room reveals, Stacey! I love every inch of this room and am simply swanning over it all. I think the color you chose for that amazing headboard is honestly just right. There's enough contrast in the shades of white that the door doesn't blend into the wall. I think a brighter or darker color might be too overpowering or distracting from all those yummy linens on the bed. :)
Stacey, it all turned out just wonderful. I love all of your pretty vintage things - and I especially love the way you displayed the vintage clothes.♥
Oh it's lovely, so fresh & quirky.

I LOVE your room. I re-did my bedroom about 3 years ago and I wish I had done more of what you did. Those lamps are adorable, the pillow shams, the painted dresser, etc. .. I ended up going with soft pink walls and I wish now I had done a white or grey myself. I hope you enjoy this room for years to come.
Love love your bedroom!! It's sooo pretty! I'm your newest follower! Have a happy Labor day weekend! xo Holly

Love this! Too Cute!
Very cute room! I love it! And I agree your own room shouldn't be last. Unfortunately ours is rather - last. Sigh. Someday...!

I absolutely LOVE your room!!!! I used to have my room like yours - then I changed it to the neutral whites and creams and greys which was very nice, but never really spoke to me. Now after seeing your truly charming & delightful room, I realize the cottagey, vintagey look is what I really love, so I am changing my room once again. Thanks so much for sharing- you made me realize I should follow my heart and not the trends.
Oh... I love it! The colors are wonderful...

I featured your charming bedroom on Friday Finds today. Thanks!
Oh how charming! A perfect place to escape at the end of the day. Saw you featured at The North End Loft and I'm now following you.

Love, love what you have done! In fact, as our master needs a redo, your room is my inspiration. That is, if I can get the Mr. on board. Love your headboard and the colours are scrumptious. Fabulous job, and great advice about not leaving your room until last. Mind you, if my room looked like that I just may never come out! :)
What a beautiful, beautiful room! I love it! The colors you used are so fresh and lovely. And your attention to detail is wonderful!

What a gorgeous room! I love all your special, vintage touches everywhere! I love the headboard and if my husband wouldn't object too much, I'd paint it a very pale pink and distress it, just a bit. But, I also think it looks lovely just as it is.
Love the headboard! What brand of paint/color did you use?
Amazing! Wonderful! Gorgeous! I love the mix of linens on the bed and that tin with jewelery on your dresser said for me to tell you that if you ever get rid of it, it wants to come live with me. For reals.
Well done girl!
Wow that is just beautiful. Our bedroom is sad and awaiting makeover and always gets left till last as well. Silly really! O love the headboard as is but could also see it in a lovely fresh light aqua :)
